Spring 2012: Men's Walk April 12th - 15th

                       Women's Walk April 26th - 29th

Attention Community

It has become necessary for us to change our procedure for Pilgrim applications deadlines. This is being done for several reasons, but most important is the fact that we cannot in all fairness call our teams to begin, then two weeks before the scheduled walk have only 7 or 8 pilgrim applications, with even those not confirmed.

The Walk to Emmaus Ministry is one that calls for us to provide the best we can for the pilgrims during the three days at camp. The Board brought to the community’s attention last year the importance of having 15 pilgrims. To that end the board of directors decided that unless we have 15 pilgrim applications , in time to allow for 7 team meetings, the full team will not be called to start . This will guarantee that once the team begins, they are actually serving on a walk that will be held, and allow the team time to conduct the preliminary work that needs to be done. This will also allow time for the sponsor to fulfill their responsibilities.

The Weekend Lay Director will be named for the walk, and he or she can call the leadership team to form. Members of the community can send in their applications for teaming, and the team will be selected, however the actual teaming process will not proceed if the required 15 Pilgrim applications are not on file by the deadline. The walk will then be held over to the following scheduled walk either for spring or fall. The teaming application fees will be returned if the team member is unable to serve the following spring or fall. Teaming is a commitment to GOD, and when you decide to serve GOD, it has to be out of love for his Church, The Body of Christ. May GOD continue to call us to serve, and may he continue to call this community to bring others to this Emmaus experience. We are a community of Prayer, please take this to GOD and ask where you may serve.

The men’s spring walk is scheduled for Apr. 12-15, 2012, the 15 application deadline is February 17, 2012

The women’s walk is scheduled for Apr. 26-29, 2012, the 15 application deadline is March 2, 2012

This is going to require that we as a community begin thinking now of who GOD is asking us to send on an Emmaus Weekend, speaking to them and getting the applications in within the next few months.

AGAPE

We know that AGAPE comes in all shapes and sizes but we need to remember the Rules of AGAPE !?! Yes, friends there are some guidelines that must be followed for the proper distribution of AGAPE!

        •  Use a number 10 envelope. (This is your standard issue BUSINESS sized envelope or smaller. Yes, greeting card size will work also.)

        •  PLEASE use the full name of the pilgrim or teamer on the envelope. Do you know how many men or women are DAD or MOM? Or Grandpa/Grandma? Or John or Sue? Or Honey/Sweetie? There would be some confusion for sure!

        •  PLEASE mark the envelope so the AGAPE Servants will know when the envelope should be delivered. (Friday Bag (#1), Friday Bed AGAPE (#2), Saturday Bed AGAPE(#3))

       •  PLEASE Alphabetize your envelopes and divide Team from Pilgrim! This makes sorting not quite the nightmare!

       •  If you send an item that is too large, the pilgrim will receive it in the Fourth Day Bag.

  • If you would like to help move luggage and clean up around camp after the walk (before the Closing), please contact Sam Whipps. This is another form of AGAPE!!!!
  • Have you signed up to pray during the 72 hour Prayer vigil for the walks? No? Well you can still pray!!! This is AGAPE!!
  • Have you signed up to help out in the kitchen during the walks? Yep, you guessed it – AGAPE !!! (Contact Butch and Mary Paul Harmon, to see if they needs someone to help.)
  • All the Special Events during the walk – You’re getting good at this! AGAPE !!!!

What are the Special Events? Candle lighting, Rise ‘n’ Shine, and Closing!!!

Special event times? Candle lighting service begins about 7:30 p.m. on Saturday of the walk at

              the Worship Center.

Rise ‘n’ Shine is at 6:30 a.m. - you may be at the camp NO EARLIER than 6:00 a.m. for this

              one, and

Closing – Praise and worship music starts about 3:15 p.m. with the Pilgrims arriving at 4:00 p.m.

Remember all those faces you saw at each one of your Special Events? Make these walks  special for the Pilgrims.

Love them like Jesus and let them see His face in YOU!!!!
